Books / year end

Tax services in Waldorf, MD

Tax season goes quietly when the books were kept all year. Guirian Bookkeeping keeps your records tax-ready and coordinates the year-end hand-off, so nobody is hunting for a receipt in March.

Chapter 01

Books that are ready before anyone asks

Tax trouble rarely starts at filing time. It starts in February, when a preparer asks for a full year of figures and the books turn out to be five months behind, with uncategorised deposits and a card account nobody reconciled. Everything after that is repair work done in a hurry.

Tax-ready books are plain and unglamorous. Every transaction sits in a sensible category. Receipts are attached or at least traceable. Each bank and card account has been reconciled to its statement, month after month, so the year ends on numbers that agree with the bank. Amy Guiriansoro keeps files this way as a matter of routine for businesses and nonprofits across Maryland and DC.

None of this changes what you owe. It changes how long it takes to find out, and how many questions come back to you later.

Coordinating the year-end hand-off

When the year closes, the work is to put one clean package in front of whoever prepares your return. That means final reconciliations done, adjusting items reviewed, the profit and loss and balance sheet produced from the closed year, and payroll records for the year gathered together.

Amy works inside QuickBooks, where she is an Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor in both Online and Payroll, so the package comes straight from the file you already own. If your preparer needs a particular report, a schedule or a list of transactions, she pulls it and sends it. She also answers their bookkeeping questions directly, which saves you from relaying messages you do not fully follow.

To be clear about scope, this is bookkeeping support for the tax process. Your return is prepared by your own tax professional, and Amy works alongside them.

Chapter 03

Dates worth keeping on the calendar

Every business has its own tax calendar, and it depends on how the entity is set up, whether it has employees, and where it operates. Rather than hand you a generic list, we put the dates that apply to you on a short schedule, confirmed with your tax professional or the agencies concerned, and work the month-end close around them.

In practice that means year-end reconciliations are finished early, payroll year-end records are ready when they are needed, and nothing arrives as a rushed request. A consultation is the place to start: it is held by appointment, over the phone or online, from Amy's practice in Waldorf.
