Bookkeeping and payroll for Maryland small businesses, kept in order every month.

Guirian Bookkeeping Services is a locally owned virtual practice in Waldorf, run by an Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. Monthly books, cleanup, payroll and clear reports for small businesses, nonprofits and growing teams across Maryland and DC.

The general ledger

Every line of the business, posted and reconciled.

Bookkeeping is double entry: something comes in, something goes back. Here is what you hand over, and what comes back to you, for each of the work Guirian keeps for small businesses, medium-sized businesses and nonprofits.

Monthly bookkeeping

Small-business bookkeeping and financial tracking, kept current.

Posted

What comes in

Bank and card feeds, receipts, bills and the invoices you send.

What goes back

Every transaction categorised, every account reconciled to its statement, a closed month and a plain read of what the numbers say.

Bookkeeping cleanup

For books that fell behind, or never quite started.

What comes in

Months of unreconciled accounts, duplicate transactions, a shoebox of paper.

What goes back

Your existing records reviewed, organised and corrected until they reflect what actually happened in the business.

Payroll

Payroll processing, accounts payable and receivable.

What comes in

Hours, pay rates, new hires and the dates your team gets paid.

What goes back

Each run processed in QuickBooks Payroll, pay stubs out on time, bills and receivables kept straight beside it.

Also kept on this ledger

Each account above opens with a consultation meeting, by appointment and remote, so the work starts from the books you actually have.

Closing balanceReconciled

Quoted, not listed.

Prices depend on the volume and the state of your books, so they are quoted after the first consultation rather than printed on a menu. See every service in full.

How a month is kept

The books get touched all month, so year end is just another month.

The month

Closed

Ringed days are when the books get touched. The month on this page is an illustration of the rhythm, not a fixed schedule: payroll runs on your pay dates.

  1. First days of the month

    Reconciled

Last month's statements arrive, and every account is reconciled to them.

Bank and card statements land. Each account is matched to its statement line by line until the books and the bank agree, and anything that does not match gets a question, not a guess.

  2. Once it all agrees

    Closed

The month is closed, and the reports follow.

With every account reconciled, the prior month is closed so nothing posted later can quietly change it. Then the profit and loss and balance sheet go out, with a short note on what moved and why.

  3. Through the month

    Posted

Transactions are posted as they come in, not in a panic at year end.

Bank feeds in QuickBooks Online are categorised week by week, bills and invoices are entered, and what customers owe you is tracked on paper rather than in your head.

  4. Every pay date

    Paid

Payroll runs on your schedule, checked before anyone is paid.

Hours come in, the run is reviewed and approved in QuickBooks Payroll, pay stubs go out, and the records stay in order for year end.
